Tuesday's Quest

Yesterday I was on a quest to find new sneakers.  I've been using the same sneakers for over a year and I've been hating them just about as long.  The thing with sneaks is that they are just so expensive, I could not see myself paying over $100 for them then a week later being like, "I hate these, I'll buy some new ones." No, I needed to go the great depression route and finally wear them out to convince myself that I really do need new ones.

So I got dressed, dropped off J at daycare and set out to find some new sneakers (mostly for running since I like to pretend I am a runner, I did complete a half-marathon last fall).  First I stopped at JC Penney to check out their new home store set up and to stop in the Sephora to see if they carry my favorite sunscreen line (they don't).  It's cute. Then I planned to go to a store that Ben bought me a gift certificate to for Christmas, only to find out that the store is permanently CLOSED. What a waste, here's a lesson learned: go out and battle the crowds the first week post-Christmas because the store might be closing. Then I went to another store and found some sneaks I liked, but they did not have my size. This was a serious test of my patience.  I wanted to throw in the towel and just give up and wear my stupid uncomfortable sneakers and search tomorrow. Then I was like, no, Sarah, you can do this, you need to find those sneakers today, finish this! So I went to the mall and found the ones I wanted in my size (and a half size bigger to try) and bought them. Success! What a relief!

Ben says my stories are mundane. He also said that my shirt was the worst twister board he'd ever seen. So who's right?

Monday Monday

Yesterday Julian went to daycare so I spent my day cleaning, rearranging some furniture and eating leftover chicken finger pizza.  He'll be in daycare two days a week over the summer so he can still play with his friends and so I can still get some things done around here, like finally get around to decorating our apartment the way I want it (we've only been living here 11 months...).

Since I've had all of this free time  I've been spending a bunch of it on Craigslist because I'm really aching for a new dining room table I hate ours with a passion, the top is wood mdf with plastic veneer then a wood looking sticker-veneer thing, it's weird I'm serious. Ben hates when I get on craigslist because I always make him go with me to look at these things that are usually unnecessary for us to buy, like when I bought a jogging stroller from Chris Lee (that's a story for another time).

Through twitter I found the funniest post about a craiglist fiasco, and it reminds me so much of my life and craigslist journeys. Read it here.

Grad party / Sunday

We went to graduation party for my cousin Matt yesterday. We enjoyed spending the day with family and the beautiful weather we've been lucky to have (since the forecast has been calling for rain everyday).

Teaching my child how to share has been challenging recently, everything he has is his own and so he has a tough time understanding the concept of sharing toys and playing together. This of course leads to the bigger, more important question: do we want more children? Somedays (and these are only my opinions) I love having just him, I only have to argue with one teacup human (these twos are tough), we can do whatever we want, little to no compromising. Then again, I realize how tough it will be for him when he is older, having no built-in friends, and the burden of caring for his parents will be solely on him. I also really love babies and being pregnant was a picnic. And I do sort of still want a babygirl.

Taste of Diversity and Albright Knox/Delaware Park

Today Ben didn't work, he's off on Saturdays. This afternoon we met up with some friends at the Taste of Diversity on Buffalo's westside. The festival was smaller than we expected, we were there for about an hour which was long enough for me to enjoy a delicious ice cream sandwich from the Sweet Hearth food truck. I'll be using salt on my chocolate chip cookies from now on, and probably eating them with ice cream. Since we had made the trek to the city from Williamsville we decided to stay in the area and take Jules to the art gallery to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery. Across the street is a playground which is where we spent most of our time. Somehow he found the only puddles in the park, soaked his shoes and shorts, and threw a major two year old temper tantrum when we decided he had splashed enough (there is never enough splashing for him).
